Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate copywriter who cares deeply about humanitarian causes. As a key member of the Marketing team, the fundraising writer will be tasked with writing and editing effective copy to raise funds and awareness for the Syrian Forum across various media platforms including online, social, video, and print. This person should be hardworking, energetic, and able to act in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Write and edit compelling and captivating fundraising appeals and brand awareness cultivation, emails, digital ads, video scripts, website donation pages, and other digital marketing content.
- Develop and collaborate on out-of-the-box digital campaigns.
- Help to craft the creative strategy for emails alongside the marketing team.
- Write engaging copy that compels people to become donors, sustainers, and mid-level supporters.
- Be the organization’s brand ambassador, ensuring fundraising copy is on-brand, effective, and highlights the dignity and resilience of the people we serve.
- Write copy quickly, especially when an emergency happens in one of the areas where we work.
- This person should also take feedback well and adjust content accordingly.
- Play a role in defining and developing the messaging for fundraising events.
- Maintain proficient knowledge of the Syrian Forum’s history and programs.
Qualification, Experience, and Technical Competencies
- Is an excellent proofreader and editor
- Delivers on-time and can write fundraising copy quickly
- Writing, informed by performance data and testing, that achieves results
- Has the ability to translate programmatic language into strong consumer-facing copy
- Is an outstanding writer with a track record of producing content that sways hearts and minds
- Loves collaboration and brainstorming and can work well with colleagues across the organization
- Develops materials that are focused on cultivation and retention, demonstrating the impact of a donor’s generosity
- Has a genuine passion for showcasing the stories of our beneficiaries and highlighting our humanitarian work
